Shenaz Treasurywala rejected quite a requiring her to wear bikinis

Sweet , bubbly yet sexy VJ-turned-actress Shenaz Treasurywala , who plays a simple, sweet girl in forthcoming flick Radio, says she has rejected quite a few roles requiring her to wear bikinis and do item numbers.

“I did reject quite a few offers that required me to wear a bikini and do item numbers. That is not where I want to go with my career. Also, there are lots of bikini and item girls out there. They are fabulous at what they do; I don’t judge them at all. But then I don’t want to join them or compete with them,” Shenaz told.



“I’ll do what the role requires me to do. I am professional. As long as it’s required and the film really needs it. It should not be there just to sell tickets but to tell a story. I am talented, I have a personality and this is my strength,” the actress said, while maintaining that she isn’t saying an outright no to donning a particular costume. Even though she has acted only in a handful of films like Ishq Vishk, Hum Tum and Aagey Se Right, she feels that being an item girl is not really her goal.


“You get into exposing if all you have is a sexy body ; or may be if you are a magnificent dancer and being an item girl is your career goal. It’s just not my thing or my talent,” she said.“I am a good actor and I am a brilliant host. I write well too. I want to concentrate on these three interests and talents,” she added. While Shenaz isn’t keen on wearing skimpy clothes on screen, she isn’t someone who shies away from wearing a bikini in real life.


In fact, Shenaz prides herself in being the proud owner of a closet full of bikinis. “I swim every day and swimming is my salvation. Nothing in the world makes me feel more relaxed. I am a complete water baby and wear a bikini in the pool every day. In fact I have a whole collection of bikinis. So, I’m not prudish or anything,” the actress said.This is the reason why she believes in the saying ‘never say never’. “If the film takes place on a beach or a boat, if it makes sense story-wise and it’s just not to entice the opposite sex or show off my body, then I’m cool. But it’s not my focus or choice to market myself like that,” she reasoned. Releasing next month, Radio also stars Himesh Reshammiya and Sonal Sehgal.

Sherlyn Chopra to have a blast visits in Arthur Road jail

The inmates of the Arthur Road jail can expect to have a blast when Bollywood sex bomb Sherlyn Chopra visits them on Sunday.

However, unlike her other appearances, Sherlyn won’t shake her butt to any raunchy item song. Rather she will restrict herself to reciting poetry to the inmates and cheer them up with her presence. She will also distribute copies of The Bhagvad Gita to the prisoners.

The day couldn’t have been more apt because Sunday is Gita Jayanti.

Sherlyn hopes her visit would entertain the prisoners.

“I think life in jail must be really dull and stressful, and I hope that my performance not only entertains the prisoners, but also raises their spirits,” she is quoted as saying by a tabloid.

Sherlyn’s shayari became quite popular on ‘Bigg Boss 3’ and she’s looking forward to show her poetic side in Arthur Road Jail as well.

Salman Khans father simply left the Veer screening without a word

Recently, Salman Khan hosted a trial of Veer for his father, Salim Khan. Salman was waiting to see how his father would react to the film but the latter simply left the screening without a word.

Thinking that his father perhaps didn’t like the film, Salman got worried. He was overwhelmed when his father called him at 2am to tell him that the film as well as Salman was outstanding.

The actor then got nostalgic about the way his father had reacted to his debut, ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ . Even then, Salim saab had walked out of the screening wordlessly and gone home and told Sallu that he would get cult status with the film and the only one who could mess it up would be him.

Remembering his father’s advice is essential at this point as Salman is counting on Veer to be a hit and can’t afford to make any mistakes.

Aamir Khan to handle the traffic in the chat rooms

The perfectionist in Aamir Khan has yet again proved the credentials of his title. He doesn’t seem to be pleased with the current technology to handle the traffic in the chat rooms. So, he has decided to design a chat room his way. But what is the reason for this disappointment?

Aamir recently conducted a fans chat on the occasion of music launch of 3 Idiots on the Internet and during the chat he discovered something, which compounded the reason for his misery.

To which he exclaims, “The big challenge is to be able to take the volume of traffic. By the time we finished with the lobby and I tried to enter my chat room, I discovered to my horror that I couldn’t, too much of traffic, I was told. So the technical team had to quickly create a new chat room for me.”

However, Aamir soon comes with a solution and says, “One day I will be able to organize a chat the way I imagine.”

Karan Johar and Pritesh Nandy have now joined the blogging

Ever since our celebs have become net savvy and just about everybody is blogging or twittering. No doubt, there is wonderful sense of freedom that the net offers, specially sites like Facebook and Twitter. If Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan managed to ruffle a lot of feathers with their comments on their respective blogs, we find thatKaran Johar and Pritesh Nandy have now joined suit.

The two are having a go at each other on twitter. Nandy, a respected journo now turned into a film producer had in the recent past, take potshots at Kareena Kapoor in Kambakkht Ishq, which the actress had taken exception to. Now Nandy has switched targets to Karan Johar’s ’Kurbaan’, which released just last week.

He is believed to have posted a review of the film in which he has ripped the film apart. Being the producer, Karan could hardly sit back and do nothing. So he has retaliated back at Nandy. Incidentally, Karan has had run ins with Ram Gopal Varma as well and there was a time when the latter would take potshots at Karan at regular intervals. But both seemed to have moved on. Right now, it is a war of words with Karan taking on Nandy.

Even though Blue and Kambakkht Ishq took a very good opening, there have been questions around your superstar status. Doesn’t that bother you?
There will always be questions around my ’Super Star’ status. This honour/ label doesn’t come with a box of marshmallows and a trophy; this label comes with a few slaps from some rotten fish and a dead mouse in your bed nearly every Friday.

It is said that the barometer of star popularity is if he can get an opening. After that it is up to the film to perform. Can one expect a similar trend for De Dana Dan as well?
Yes, it is my job to bring in the crowds and leave the rest to the magic of the movie. Those who don’t like my work can feel free to have an issue with it. That’s the way I would learn. I am forever indebted to those who appreciate my effort. And lastly, those who couldn’t care whether I dropped off the face of this earth, well, I will keep trying for your praise one day.

Akshay Kumar Talking about opening, Blue took a very good start when it released this Diwali. In fact it was one of the best ever. However, by your own high standards, it underperformed. Have you tried analyzing the reason?
Oh, I could analyze the movie until the cows come home. No movie is perfect, even the best ones for that matter. I know what could have been better and I know what to work on but as of now, that’s between the director and his actor. To my high standards it was Bollywood’s best attempt at an underwater adventure and no one can take that away from the film. The rest, I agree, is questionable, but that entirely depends upon whether you are the type to walk into a theatre and rip movies apart for the sake of it. Or whether you just like to enjoy good cinema!

Meanwhile, you don’t seem to be having too many friends in the industry though. It seems like they are waiting for a movie of yours to crash so that they can attack you. Any thoughts?
Let’s be cognizant of the fact that no one is anybody’s friend in this industry. It’s impossible actually, and everyone knows it. People befriend people to get somewhere in life. This is not a dig, it’s purely human nature. "I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine, now come over for dinner while I charm you and your wife" - this is how every industry works.

You don’t seem to be holding back...
I know what I am saying is harsh but then if you ask me a blunt question, I can only give a blunt answer. I wasn’t brought up with politician blood in me, I am peas and carrots. Do not get me wrong. No doubt people have immense respect for each other in this industry. It’s actually very humbling to witness it. It’s just that I hold my dearest friends very high in my life and I don’t like the word being thrown around like a ping pong ball.

How about the attacks on you?
As for attacking me, no one could ever hurt me. Words are words, opinions are opinions and life goes on. Centuries back, we were convinced that the world was flat! It’s up to the people who and what do they listen to. You just have to stay calm and remember that your family loves you and that’s all we ever need.

Bipasha Basu : “I was shooting for Aa Dekhe Zara at Royal Palms on 26/11. While I was on the way back I saw the Vile Parle blast and was stranded in the crazy chaos.

We somehow drove through the melee to reach home that night. This year on 26/11 I’d be rehearsing for a show. I want terrorism to be wiped off the face of the earth. Is that asking for too much?”

Amitabh Bachchan : “I was in Mumbai on 26/11 last year. I will be in the city again this year.”

Hema Malini: “I was in Mumbai. Someone told me to watch television. I couldn’t believe what I saw. 26 November used to be associated with so many wonderful things. It is a meat-less day and a friend’s wedding anniversary.

Now the joy of that day is gone forever. Now 26/11 is a day of terror forever. I’ll be in Turkey shooting this year. I will remember the day with a heavy heart. My love to all those who lost dear ones on that day.”

Neil Nitin Mukesh: “I remember I was shooting in at Film City on 26/11 last year. I wish we could change that day in Mumbai. I wish people who lost their loved ones would get back their happiness. This 26/11 I’ll pray for the soul of the dead and hope that their families’ wounds would heal.”

Pooja Bedi: “I was at home on 26/11, 2008 watching the horror unfold on tv. This year I’m hosting a 26/11 memorial function by the DVK Foundation in London at the Kensington Palace. It is to support victims of terror attacks and to provide financial assistance to families.”

Imtiaz Ali: “I remember I came home from a late-night film.I got messages to switch on the tv. Then I was watching horrified for the next 70 hours.

When we relive that horror this year we have to be sensitive and not remind the families of 26/11 victims just to create media content. On the other hand this year media should ascertain from the authorities and tell the common man what he must do if a similar situation were to arise again.”

Celina Jaitly: “I was saved from the attack on Trident hotel by 15 minutes. It’s sad that after the ghastly 26/11 attack the Indians’ anger and outrage lasted only a few days. Qasab is still in jail and everyone has moved on without making the correction in our security system that made the attack possible. This is alarming.”

Adnan Sami: “I remember I was heading towards the Taj for a Japanese meal on 26/11. My song ‘Mumbai City’ with Jermaine Jackson contains my tribute to the spirit of 26/11. We won’t go down into the night, no matter what.”

Rahul Khanna: “Last year on 26/11 I was traveling out of the country and was glued to the live tv coverage feeling helpless watching home hometown under attack. I hope all the brave innocent souls we lost are at peace and in a better place.”

Tusshar Kapoor: “I was in Cape Town shooting when 26/11 happened. Ideally I’d never want such a horror to revisit Mumbai. But life is not about ideal situations.”

Arshad Warsi: “I was shooting in Wai. I drove into Mumbai and out on 26/11 last year. I’m going to a charity dinner hosted by Prince Michael in memory of people who lost their lives on 26/11.”

Dino Morea: “I was in Los Angeles on 26/11 last year. Watched it all on tv. If I could reverse the clock I’d love to wipe out the horror of that day and make it just another normal day in Mumbai. This year on 26/11 I want Kasab to be sentenced. What is this game that is being played regarding his hand in 26/11?”

Kabir Bedi: “Last year my companion Parveen and I were at the Juhu Marriott receiving frantic calls from my children Pooja and Adam begging us to go home.

Even the Press at the event only talked of gang-land shootings in South Bombay but we took the children’s advice. I’d have liked it if the terrorists had sunk to the bottom of the sea before landing. This year I am a hosting a charity fundraiser in London, along with Pooja, for the benefit of the victims of 26/11.”

Abbas Tyrewala: “I was in Chennai working on my music on 26/11 last year. There was cyclone that day, almost as if the elements were reflecting on the darkness and turmoil in Mumbai. This 26th I am tempted to be at the Taj for dinner.

But maybe that’s just being stubbornly sentimental. Maybe I’ll just say a prayer for those who were murdered by pathetic, desperate imbeciles, misled by enemies of God and humanity.”

Neha Dhupia: “On 26/11 last year I was in a movie premiere. Everyone started to leave. That was very unusual. Little did we know what was happening outside. Wish it had never happened.”

Manoj Bajpai: “I had just returned from Malaysia on 26/11 last year. I’ll be shooting in Dubai this year.”

Sonu Sood: “I was in an event at the Marriot on 26/11 last year when suddenly everyone panicked. I didn’t realize anything was seriously amiss until I saw the news. Nothing worse could’ve happened to Mumbai. I feel it’s time we collectively stood up against terrorism.”

Shreyas Talpade: “I was in Cape Town last year when it happened. As a token of respect to the people who lost their lives, we should torture and kill that bast..d Qasab.

Instead we’re behaving like a bunch of idiots trying to prove he isn’t guilty. I really feel ashamed. Let’s hang Qasab for what he has done. It doesn’t matter if he is Indian or Pakistani.”

But the fact remains that after New York and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, if Katrina manages to get a success in De Dana Dan and Rajneeti as well, she would almost step up towards the coveted position. A day before the release of De Dana Dan, Katrina Kaif talks to Joginder Tuteja about the number game, people who have made a difference to her career and the reason behind signing a film like De Dana Dan when she has author backed roles coming her way.

After Boom, when you started rebuilding your career, you got Sarkar with Ram Gopal Varma , Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya with David Dhawan and Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye with Raj Kanwar. However, most recognition came your way with Vipul Shah’s Namastey London. Which of these films/people do you think have contributed most in causing a turning point in your career?I think that every movie and filmmaker has helped me a little bit in moving ahead over the years. In this journey of mine, they have all been a great help and guided me into taking a step in the right direction to being successful.

With such good success coming your way, the throne of No. 1 doesn’t seem too far away. So why do you or any other actor for that matter shy away from talking about reaching the top position?Really, actors never get into the number game because it is of no use. See! The point is that if you say that you are there, what is left to achieve? Nothing! right? The best part is to just keep moving on and pick the best roles and filmmakers that come your way.

I am sure you would be continuing to choose the best scripts. However, being at the top has its own perks, most importantly the remuneration factor, isn’t it?See, remuneration is a very personal thing so one should keep that out of the equation. As long as people trust you for working hard and believe that you are a professional, it’s great.

Today, you have close to a dozen odd successful films behind you. For someone who was written off 6 years back after the release of Boom (2003), you are a case study of someone who has indeed come a long way and seen quite a few highs and lows. Due to the volatile situation of Bollywood, do you actually get impacted by all the adulation and superstar talks?
Frankly, I take it all with a pinch of salt. One can never get too carried away in this industry because at the end of the day, it doesn’t help you achieve anything at all. The best way is to look at the work you are doing and continue to make careful choices.

In Namastey London, you played Jasmeet. In De Dana Dan, you are yet again playing a pucca Punjabi named Anjali Kakkad. Having fun playing such characters?(Laughs) But I am not really speaking in Punjabi and I haven’t even put on a Punjabi lingo for De Dana Dan. Since the film is set in Singapore, I talk in regular Hindi and that’s about it.

This is your fifth film with Akshay as a leading lady after Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye, Namastey London, Welcome and (if one discounts Blue where you were in a special appearance). The popular theory is that Akshay is lucky for you from the very beginning of your career. However, hasn’t it ever occurred to you that perhaps you are lucky for him as well?
Come on, none of us have ever thought like that. I don’t even think Akshay ever says that he is lucky for me. Same holds good vice versa as well. There is no logic to it, you know. Both of us take one film at a time and do it on its merits rather than just the pairing factor.

Looking at the promos and after speaking to other people associated with De Dana Dan, it appears that the movie is a really mad affair. After Kabir Khan (New York) and Raj Kumar Santoshi (Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani), working in a Priyadarshan setup must have been an entirely different world, right?
Yes, De Dana Dan is indeed a mad film. The humour out there is crazy. To add to that, there is lot of glamour in it as well, which makes it a good looking, crazy-mad entertainer. I really wanted to do a film with Priyan. I did it just for the experience and I am glad I did it.

However, after movies like New York and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, you seem to be taken seriously as an actor who is enjoying all the screen space as a solo leading lady. In De Dana Dan though, there are a couple of dozen odd characters around. Hypothetically speaking, would you be working in a movie like De Dana Dan tomorrow again considering the current box office pull that you enjoy?Actually, it is ok to do one such film a year. As I said earlier, I did De Dana Dan for a unique experience since I hadn’t worked in a movie like this earlier. Tomorrow if something like this comes up, I will do it for sure.

Well, in the interim we also would see you in Rajneeti. It’s a case of everything fitting in just perfectly - with a completely contrasting character, following the one that you play in De Dana Dan?
Oh yes, Rajneeti has a very good role. It has a different sensibility to it and it should be a good follow up to the films of mine that have released in 2009. Rajneeti should be a good way to start 2010.

Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan were inundated with offers of starring together

Looks like the success of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani has changed Ranbir Kapoor’s perception of his career graph. The actor, who till now was open to the possibility of starring with buddy Imran Khan in a film, has now had a change of heart. Ranbir and Imran, who received a lot of accolades for hosting the Filmfare awards together earlier this year, were inundated with offers of starring together in films.

Ranbir, who is currently shooting with Priyanka Chopra in Bangkok for Anjana Anjani, his second film with Siddharth Anand after Bachna Ae Haseeno, says, “Imran and I did one gig together at the Filmfare awards but we haven’t worked together after that. We have been offered a whole lot of stuff but the offers never went beyond the preliminary stage. I don’t think Imran and I will be working together in any capacity in the near future. By God’s grace, I am in a position to do solo-hero films with terrific actresses and directors for the best banners. I am a selfish actor. I would rather have a film to myself than share it with another actor.”

Did something go wrong with their great friendship, one can’t help but wonder. The response is even more shocking as Ranbir admits that Imran and he are not exactly the thick friends they are made out to be. He says, “Imran and I are friends but not the best of friends. Where is the time for friendship? I don’t even have time for my parents. My only close friend in the film industry is Ayan Mukerji. I selfishly call my parents to my outdoor shootings to spend time with them. However, they avoid joining me on outdoors. They know what it’s like to be distracted. They have been there, done that. I’m doing what I love. So, no complaints.”

Rubbishing rumours of co-producing a film with Imran, Ranbir says. “People said I am co-producing a film with him. It will be really insulting if I don’t direct my first film for my home production (RK Films). I will feel really small and inadequate.

Rann and Veer are both slated for a January 22 relaese

This has been a year of clashes and collisions. And this a trend which is likely to be carried over onto the next year. According to sources, Ramgopal Varma’s ’Rann’ and Anil Sharma’s ’Veer’ are both slated for a January 22 relaese. It seems that Vishal Bharadwaj’s ’Ishqiya’ too was supposed to join them but has now decided to release a week earlier.

There was a time when Salman Khan, the hero of ’Veer’ and Amitabh Bachchan , the protagonist of ’Rann’, were on quite good terms with each other. But of late, after Aishwariya became the Bachchan bahu, equations have changed slightly. And now their films are set to clash at the box office.

While ’Veer’ is a period film, mounted in epic style by the Gadar director Anil Sharma and produced by Vijay Galanai on a mega budget of Rs 40 crore, ’Rann’ is a film by Ram Gopal Varma and is produced by Mandhu Mantena and Sheetal Talwar on a much smaller budget.

It seems that ’Rann’ was initially set for a release on October 2, but after the strike fresh dates were set by the United Producers and Distributors body and the movie was pushed to January 22, which coincides with the Republic Day week. All the film’s promotions are being planned keeping that date in mind.

As for the makers of ’Veer’, January 22 suits them fine as their movie is patriotic in tone. As of now, both parties are making light of the clash and talking rather nonchalantly about ’Veer’ and ’Rann’ releasing on the same day.

But as everybody knows, clashes like this , do no one good. Of course, going by track records, Ramu has been in rather indifferent form these days and hence nothing can really be predicted about him or his movies. As for Sharma, his last film, ’Apne’, starring the Deols, crashed at the box office. Both directors need a hit desperately. And ’Rann’ and ’Veer’ may be the best chance for them.

Aamir Khan has undergone various punishments during his education days

He might be a superstar today, but Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has no qualms in admitting that he has undergone various punishments during his education days - from getting caned to kneeling down for the whole day.

"When in school, kneeling down in front of the principal’s office was a regular feature. I have also been caned a couple of times. It is strange that when you get caned, you don’t realise the pain instantly, but after two seconds it shoots so badly... It’s awful," Aamir told reporters here.

"I used to be more interested in sports and hence used to always forget doing my homework. Also, poor marks used to create problems for me. I used to get scolded very often," he added.

The 44-year-old actor also revealed that he only studied till Class 12 and never had a very good college life.

"My education has only been till 12th standard because after that I got into films. Even while in college for my 11th and 12th, I used to hardly attend classes because I was always busy with dramatics.

"Because of this, I didn’t have a very rocking college life. But during the shoot of ’3 idiots’ I lived the moments of a student’s life and enjoyed the way students do," said Aamir, who used to study in Narsee Monjee College in Mumbai.

Aamir along with actors R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi was in the Capital Wednesday to promote his upcoming film "3 Idiots". Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film is slated to hit screens Dec 25.

Talking about the film that is based on author Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel "Five Point Someone", Aamir said it’s not only for engineering students but for every student and parent in the world.

"The film is not meant only for engineering students. It applies to all students and parents, who want to see their kids successful. It questions what success is. It questions what a child really wants to do. It raises various issues important to this generation.

"However, it’s told in a humorous way because that’s how Rajkumar Hirani makes his films," said the actor.

Asked when he would again wield the megaphone, Aamir told IANS: "I don’t know at the moment what I will make and when will that be. Let’s see."

Twilight Saga: New Moon registered highest UK box office openings

Vampire film `The Twilight Saga: New Moon` registered one of the year`s highest UK box office openings, making 11.68 million pounds ($19.3 million) in weekend sales, according to Screen International on Tuesday.

That is nearly double the autumn`s two other blockbusters, "2012" and "Up" but still short of the 2009 record opening of 19.8 million pounds set in July by "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."

Based on the second of Stephenie Meyer`s four Twilight books, New Moon, with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, blew disaster movie 2012 off the top spot and down into second place.

Walt Disney`s high-tech adaptation of Charles Dickens` "A Christmas Carol," was also down one place, at three.

"Harry Brown" slipped a spot to four with Michael Caine as a retired soldier out for justice after the murder of his best friend.

"Up" was down at five from four while the stop-motion animated version of Roald Dahl`s "Fantastic Mr Fox" stayed at six.

Shilpa Shetty gave a royal miss to ex-lover Akshay Kumar at her wedding, but the brass band that was called in to play at her marriage brought back the memories of her sour love affair. Just before the pheras were about the begin, the band started playing some romantic love songs from Akshay Kumar-Shilpa Shetty starrer ‘Dhadkan’, giving a shock to all present. Even as the band had just begun playing, members from Kundra and Shetty’s families rushed to instruct them to stop the music immediately.

Confirming the report, an eyewitnes told a daily, “The band members were shocked and were wondering what went wrong. They looked quizzically at the people who were ordering them to stop the music of ‘Dhadkan’ but all that they got in return were harsh glares.

“At this point they were categorically told, `Akshay ki film ka gaana mat bajao`.”What’s more, the band members were asked to stop the music until further orders.

“They started playing a fresh batch of songs only around 5 pm, and this time, of course, they didn’t have any Akshay song on their list. It was quite a hilarious situation. Imagine the crestfallen band on one side and the livid guys who came running out from the bungalow. We wonder what was going on in Shilpa and Raj `s mind at that moment when this incident happened,” adds the eyewitness.

Ranbir Kapoor’s first crush in life was second standard school teacher

anbir Kapoor may have parted ways with Deepika Padukone but earlier his name was linked with debut film Saawariya co-star Sonam Kapoor. But not many are aware that Ranbir’s first crush in life was his schoolteacher.

Ranbir smilingly states in this regards, “I have had many crushes in life and my first crush was my second standard school teacher. Maybe because she was the first woman in my life after my mother who pampered me and loved me just the way my mom did. I used to secretly adore her.”

Akshay Kumar minces no words when it comes to praising Katrina Kaif. The two look good together on screen and often Akshay is credited for boosting Kat’s career when she needed it the most. Often it is said that Akki is the star to whom Kat hitched her wagon on her way to super stardom. But Akshay doesn’t like to make much noise about it. He credits Kat’s beauty and potential for her success and adds that he would go ahead to help any damsel in distress.

“I don’t make it a hobby to help heroines. I wait and I watch and I will of course be there to guide any damsel in distress. However, a ’Katrina’ doesn’t walk by a film set everyday. They are one in a million for a reason,” Akshay is quoted as saying in an interview. Katrina herself is so fond of Akshay that she agreed to do Priyadarshan’s movie De Dana Dan, only because Akshay asked her to even though her role in the film isn’t very substantial.

“I know when Katrina says she’s doing it for me, it means she respects me enough to say yes to something without question. There aren’t any questions around the script etc... It’s a plain and simple talk of ’Yes Akshay, when do you need me?’.” Akshay revealed. Akshay himself is under no illusion that ‘De Dana Dan’ won’t do anything great to Kat’s career.

“’De Dana Dan’ isn’t going to better her career. But yes, it is just good for her to work in different environments. A movie like this is a first for her. She still needs to touch every aspect of her audience and she knows it,” said Akshay.The film releases this Friday.

Salman Khans 20 years dream will fulfilled on Jan 22

This dream has been a long time coming. When on Jan 22 the epic film "Veer" hits theatres, Bollywood actor Salman Khan would have fulfilled his dream of 20 years. The movie’s first look will be unveiled Friday with "De Dana Dan".

"’Veer’ has been a 20-year dream of Salman Khan. His involvement in this particular project is tremendous especially because he lived with the script for so long. It’s like a dream come true for him, " said a source close to the actor in a press statement.

The much-talked about film is about the bravery of a Pindari soldier and speaks of bravery exemplifying the courage of every oppressed Indian fighting for justice and independence. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film features Salman in never seen before avatar along with newcomer Zarine Khan .

Former Miss UK Lisa Lazarus too plays an important role in the film that also stars Mithun Chakraborty and Jackie Shroff along with Sohail Khan and Bharat Dabholkar.

"Salman has gone all out for this film. He has worked hard on his look for ’Veer’ - right from the styling to his toned physique. The film has turned out great much to everyone’s delight and is touted as Salman Khan’s greatest work, " said the source.

Produced by Vijay Galani, the film will be realeased worldwide by Eros International.

Galani has roped in Sajid Wajid for the music and Oscar winner Gulzar for the lyrics. This is composer duo’s first historical film.

Twilight series has drawn criticism from the Vatican

The Roman Catholic Church has expressed concerns over the growing popularity of the “Twilight” series, as Vatican officials have called the vampire franchise a “moral vacuum with a deviant message”.The worldwide hype of the series has drawn criticism from the Vatican, with officials urging parents to be more vigilant about the type of films their children are watching, reports.

“The theme of vampires in ‘Twilight’ combines a mixture of excesses that as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element. It is once again that age-old trick or ideal formula of using extremes to make an impact at the box office. This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern,” said Monsignor Franco Perazzolo of the Pontifical Council of Culture.

The second film in the vampire series, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon ”, hit cinemas Friday worldwide.

Vatican officials previously criticised the Harry Potter film franchise for its themes of magic and wizardry, as well as Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons” for their depiction of the Catholic Church.

Paa’s premiere venue will be decorated like a child’s nursery

Paa’s premiere in Mumbai on December 3rd is set to start with Abhishek Bachchan entering the premiere carrying his Paa, Amitabh Bachchan on piggyback. This was Abhishek’s idea and he wants to go ahead with it, despite Amitabh trying to dissuade him as it may have a bad effect on Abhi’s back.

Paa’s premiere venue will be decorated like a child’s nursery. Paa is being depended upon to be a success as it is AB Corp’s first film in five years. Amitabh was supposed to, initially, be dressed up as Auro, his character in the film. But they decided against the idea, as the makeup artist would have to especially be flown in from the US and Amitabh as Auro would prove to be distracting for the guests.

Amitabh will receive the guests at the premiere along with the six child actors who play his friends in the film -Nimit, Pratik, Taruni, Varun, Gaurav and Dhruven. All friends of the Bachchans’ are invited to the premiere.

A new reality show based on past life of Bollywood celebrities

Did Shah Rukh Khan stammer in his last life? Or was Salman Khan as macho in his previous birth? Viewers are wondering if a new reality show based on past life regression therapy will answer questions about their favourite stars even as it as created quite a buzz.“Raaz - Pichhle Janam Ka” will go on air Dec 7 and TV watchers are hoping it will rope in some high-profile celebrities.

According to channel officials, they have received over 8,000 calls from across the country to participate. Calls ranged from someone who had recurring dreams of dying in a plane crash to those who were scared of crows, water, fire and heights.Sonia Maheshwari, 22, says: “I want to know if this is all for real or made up. I think it will be great fun if they bring in celebrities like Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh, Salman, Rekha and Rahul Dravid.”

Ditto for public relations executive Saurav Bhanot. “It will be loads of fun to compare someone’s present and past…and more fun if the person is a celebrity.“Imagine knowing about Shah Rukh’s past life…What was he? Was he this successful then as well? What exactly did he do in terms of work? His personal life and if there were any scandals in his past life…that would be so very interesting,” he said.

Past life regression is a holistic form of therapy used by clinical psychologists to recover the memories of people and help them evade their present fears. The same will be shown on the NDTV Imagine reality show.Mumbai-based practitioner Trupti Jayin will be the therapist on the show. She will use a meditative technique to take people back in time to rid them of their present-day fears, phobias and physical ailments by finding their roots in their previous lives.

The show will have celebrities like Shekhar Suman and Neil Nitin Mukesh as well as unknown faces with unique stories.There are people who are looking forward to it.Natasha Harjai, a 24-year-old lawyer, has been an avid fan of Brian Weiss’ books on past life regression. She says the therapy is “magical” and it will make a good watch for people of all age groups.

“I think this show will help in clearing a lot of doubts about reincarnation and in affirming the beliefs of people who already believe in it,” Harjai, a practising lawyer, told IANS.“I know that there are a lot of people of all age groups who believe in this concept and will enjoy watching the show,” she added.

The majority of people calling in for the show wish to know about their existence in the past, said Jayin, who has been doing it for a decade now.“We get around 500 call-ins every day and I monitor quite a few of them. Most people want to come on the show just because they want to know what they were in their past lives, how they died, etc. They come for the sake of their curiosity,” Jayin told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

However, popular psychiatrist Samir Parikh feels it is “sad” that what is usually done on condition of confidentiality is now being brought to a national platform like television.“I think reality television is losing track. It needs limits of normality,” opined Parikh, consultant psychiatrist at Max Healthcare.

Deepika Padukone take a short break holiday to the US

After continuously being on her toes for three years, Deepika Padukone has finally decided to take it easy. The actress will soon take a short break and head for a holiday to the US with her family to attend a cousin’s wedding. The Padukones are looking forward to spending time with their relatives.

Deepika’s close friend said, “Deepika has been working incessantly since the last three years. Also, she just broke up with Ranbir Kapoor, so the break is a welcome relief for her. She signed Om Shanti Om in 2006 and the back-to-back shooting schedules for other films left her with no personal time. Even beforeOm Shanti Om released, she was working on Chandni Chowk to China and Bachna Ae Haseeno. As soon as she completed these two films, she got busy with Love Aaj Kal. Recently, she completed shooting for Farhan’s Akhtar’s Karthik Calling Karthik and Sajid Khan’s Housefull. Then, there were the cameo appearances and the endorsements, which also kept her occupied. When the rest-deprived Deepika got an opportunity to spend time with family, she immediately grabbed it.”

“One of Deepika’s closest cousins is getting married and she was to leave for the US last Sunday but since she had to finish a shoot, she will be leaving after a couple of days and will spend at least ten days with her family in the US. Since there is a lot of speculation about her personal life due to her break-up with Ranbir, she wants to come back rejuvenated,” added the friend.

Deepika confirmed the news and said, “My brother is getting married. It is the first big wedding in the family and I am looking forward to it. I believe it is very important to make time for family, no matter how hectic one’s life is.”

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger quit as a politician next year

Hollywood star-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced he’ll quit as a politician next year.The former action man’s second and final term as Governor of California comes to an end at the end of 2010 and he insists he won’t be seeking any other political gig after he steps down, reports.


The Austrian-bon Republican recently hinted at another possible political run when he challenged America’s rules on the nationality of those who seek election as President, but Schwarzenegger insists he won’t be seeking that role any further or any other once he leaves office in Sacramento, California.


“I have never labelled myself as a politician, so I am not going to run for anything else,” he said.


Since taking office in 2003, Schwarzenegger suspended his movie career, appearing only in cameo roles in “The Rundown”, “Around the World in 80 Days” and “The Kid & I”.


He’s now attached to star in next year’s “The Expendables”, which has been directed by Sylvester Stallone and also stars Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis and Terry Crews.

Sanjay Dutt unable to shave off his beard during Knock-Out film

Sanjay Dutt’s dates have gone haywire, all thanks to the beard that he has grown for his role in Mani Shankar’s Knock-Out.

The beard was supposed to come off this month after the completion of his schedule for Shankar’s film. But Dutt’s mentor Amar Singh played the spoilsport. He asked Dutt to campaign for the assembly elections in Maharashtra.

That’s when Dutt’s shooting schedule got somewhat messed up.

Says a source close to Dutt, “Sanjay Dutt was supposed to complete the current schedule of Knock-Out and then move on to Indra Kumar’s Dhamaal Part 2, the next schedule of Anees Bazmi’s No Problem and the remaining portion of Bunty Walia’s Lamhaa. But suddenly Sanjay got a call from Amar Singh asking him to campaign for the by-elections in Maharashtra.”

When Amar Singh summons Sanjay Dutt hears no other voice.

Says the source, “Sanjay immediately gave the dates required. Resultantly his schedules were thrown off by two weeks.”

Two weeks in itself would’ve not been such a setback were it not for the beard. Apparently Dutt refused to shave off the beard to work on other pending projects simultaneously with Knock-Out.

Says the source, “Sanjay feels a false beard would cut into the authenticity of his character in Knock-Out. He refused to shave off the beard and take on the other projects after the delay caused by the by-elections. He requested other producers to push up their dates until he could finish with his bearded look.”

Dutt has now decided he will hold a ‘Look’ for his film even if means cutting down on his assignments. In fact after he was unable to shave off his beard during Knock-Out he gave others producers the option of signing someone else.

Priyadarshan has always believed in situational comedy and his iconic HERA PHERI was one of the best examples of this genre. Similarly in DE DANA DAN, it is a hilariously precarious situation that Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty find themselves in when their respective girlfriends, Katrina and Sameera give them an ultimatum that jolts them into action and forces them to take drastic steps and hell breaks lose!

No need to get alarmed as we are not letting out the plot of Priyan’s side splitting DE DANA DAN but merely providing our patrons a taste of what to expect from a film that is being hailed as HERA PHERI 2.

In the movie, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy play girlfriends to Akshay and Sunil who have no source of income and they are given an ultimatum by their girlfriends to either earn money or forget them as their parents are ready to get them married to other suitable grooms! This naturally becomes the driving force as the two main protagonists take desperate measures (dragging poor Paresh in too!) in order to earn money and they embark on a mission to become rich and famous in order to marry their sweethearts.

Farah Khan and her husband to rope in Akshay Kumar in place of King Khan

Farah Khan chose Akshay Kumar over good friend Shah Rukh Khan for her husband Shirish Kunder ’s ambitious next Tees Maar Khan.

Shirish has been working hard on the script of Tees Maar Khan since his last dud Jaaneman, starring Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan, sank without a trace. Insiders say the script of Tees Maar Khan was specially written keeping Shah Rukh in mind. However, after the course of events leading to differences between Shirish and Farah, they decided to rope in Akshay Kumar in place of King Khan. A source close to Farah and Shirish adds, “Shirish put his heart and soul into Tees Maar Khan, but after Shah Rukh treated him badly by asking him to direct The Zoya Factor and then passing it off to someone else without even telling him, Shirish began to keep his distance from Khan. Farah, however, maintained the same level of friendship with him, considering she had approached him for her ambitious next Happy New Year.”

So, what went wrong between Farah and Shah Rukh? The source explains, “Everything was hunky dory between Farah and him till Shah Rukh began to find unnecessary faults in Happy New Year and delayed the project by almost a year now. He made her edit the script several times, and she came to a point when she realized that he simply wasn’t interested in doing the film in the first place. Its understandable that Shah Rukh is more interested in working on Mani Ratnam’s Ra 1 and Farhan Akhtar’s sequel to Don, and wants to focus all his attention on these films. She soon roped in Akshay for the lead role in Tees Maar Khan, who is also a close friend and brother Sajid’s favorite actor and confidante. Akshay is even producing Tees Maar Khan under his home production, Hari Om Productions.”

Still, Farah had her inhibitions in roping Akki for the role, as audiences will obviously identify Shah Rukh in the title, but husband Shirish made her think otherwise. The source adds, “They have full trust in Akshay, as they know that he will take the script to an all-new level. He is a close friend, and they have a great working relationship with him." When Farah was asked whether Akshay is in her next Tees Maar Khan, she confirmed, saying, “Yes, it’s true, Akshay is a part of Tees Maar Khan, and we are ecstatic to have him on board.” Shirish, who had earlier decided to direct the film, has passed the direction duties to wife Farah. He spoke on the matter, saying, ‘I had written this film with Akshay in mind and was initially planning to direct it, but when Farah and I formed our production company, we mutually thought it best that she direct this film while I take the responsibility of a producer. Bollywood News – Saif Ali Khan was asked Bollywood Actress Kareena Kapoor would become a muslime after marriage.

Saif says, “I would never want her to change her religion. That is the trouble with religion really it expects conversion. I don’t buy or believe that any more. I think it’s good that the government has – unless I’m misinformed about the law – amended it to include it in the Special Marriage Act. If and when we do get married no one has to change his or her religion.”

Katrina Kaif is turning producer with a French film

Katrina Kaif is turning producer with a French film, À la folie… pas du tout (He loves me… he loves me not). She will be playing the lead role in her version of the film. Audrey Tautou played the protagonist in the French film.

Katrina was certain she wanted to make the film the minute she watched it. She has spoken to the people concerned and will buy the rights of the film soon. She wants Vipul Shah to direct the film, as she believes Vipul will be able to portray the variety of emotions that the film is filled with.

The film’s story is about an art student who is unaware of the ways of the world and blindly believes in her love. The casting of the film is yet to be done. It will start filming next year.

Though denied by Katrina, the news is confirmed by a source.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s dream home in front of the Bachchans residence

Since the marriage couldn’t be postponed any further, thanks to the moody stars (we mean the ones above, not down below) Shilpa Shetty and her soon-to-be bridegroom Raj Kundra will move into a smaller brand-new place in a high-rise owned by Vashu Bhagnani in front of the Bachchans’ residence Jalsa, until Shilpa Shetty-Kundra’s dream home in Juhu is fully done up by Sussanne Roshan.

Dream house or not, the marriage couldn’t be held off any more.After the marriage Shilpa and Raj Kundra will fly off to an unknown destination for their honeymoon. They shift into their Juhu residence in February or March. Immediately after the wedding Shilpa and Raj will leave for Tirupathi and then to the Oneness University in Chennai too see Shilpa’s spiritual guru’s blessings.

“It was Sri Amma (the spiritual guru) who had predicted that Shilpa will get married this year. She almost did earlier this year. Now it’s finally happening,” says Shilpa’s friend.

“But what Shilpa is really happy about is that Raj Kundra is shifting permanently to Mumbai after marriage. The thought of a long-distance marriage was killing Shilpa. She knew it would be impractical. At the same time she would’ve been left with no choice if Raj had insisted on being Briton based.”

Shah Rukh Khan has started shooting for serial Fauji 2

Actor Shah Rukh Khan has never forgotten his roots. The actor still remembers the serial Fauji, which propelled him to fame, thereby paving the way for his cinematic success. As reports have indicated, the actor is producing a sequel to Fauji, or rather his production house is. According to reports, SRK has already started shooting for Fauji 2.

He is believed to have shot for an hour for the serial, most of which was devoted to shooting flashback scenes with television actor Pulkit Sanrat, who plays his son in the sequel.

SRK is reportedly not in any hurry to complete the shoot of the serial, which is scheduled to go on air in January, on Colours. It is likely to replace the very popularBigg Boss , which will reach its finale in December. The other reason that SRK is taking it slow is because he wants everything to be done to perfection. Aamir Khan upset for Actor Surya's Bollywood debut

Aamir Khan is being given a run for his money for the title of Mr. Perfectionist by south sensation Surya as he takes his Hindi lessons way too seriously.

Honing his Hindi vocabulary, Surya is learning the perfect pitch to deliver his dialogues for the Ram Gopal Varma political thriller Rakht Charitra.

Apparently so serious is Surya to make a perfect Bollywood debut, that he has gone ahead and hired a tutor to improve his diction in Hindi. RGV must be so proud of him.

Apart from Surya, actor Vivek Oberoi is also to be seen in this flick in the role of gangster Paritala Ravi. Rakht Charitra is expected to go on floors from February 2010.

Kurbaan has got an ‘A’ certificate by the Censor Board

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Kurbaan has got an ‘A’ certificate by the Censor Board. This is because of the violent and sizzling lovemaking scenes in the film.

The violence and the setting of the film, which is terrorism, led to the Censor Board taking this decision. They felt it would be suitable only for an adult audience. Rensil D’Silva, the director of the film, tried talking to the Censor Board authorities and convince them into giving it a ‘U’ or ‘U/A’ certificate but they wouldn’t budge.

Regional Officer of the Censor Board, Vinayak Azad, confirmed the news and said, “After we saw Kurbaan, we felt that it was meant for adult viewing only.”

Vivek Oberoi getting a raw deal Saif Ali

Is Vivek Oberoi getting a raw deal? The Kurbaan promos feature Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor all the way. Vivek Oberoi who plays the third main protagonist is hardly glimpsed in the entire promotional campaign, triggering off a widespread feeling that things are not so right between Vivek and the Kurbaan team.

However the explanation for Vivek’s absence is far more bizarre than the normal raw-deal rona-dona.

Apparently his role is so deeply affiliated to the plot’s suspense that every moment shown in the promos featuring Oberoi would have the tendency to give away the story.

Laughs director Rensil d’Silva, “It’s a very strange situation. Vivek is one of the central characters. But almost every scene of his is a dead giveaway of the suspense. What do we do?”

Rensil has discussed the problem with Vivek. “And he is absolutely cool with being the band mutthi of the film. I’ve spoken to Vivek and explained the dilemma. He was cool with not being featured in the promos that much. He said to do whatever is right for the film because when the film opens the truth about the extent of his role would be out. Vivek has worked very hard in the film. He had to acquire a true New Yorker’s accent and not the kind Indians get at the John F Kennedy airport.”

Vivek worked really hard on the accent. “We had a couple of New Yorkers on the sets to coach him. He’s got the NY accent bang-on. It’s not a borough-specific accent (NY has 5 boroughs each with its own speaking patter). It’s a general New York twang. And Vivek is superb with it.”

Rensil cuts down the belief that Vivek has a cameo in Kurbaan? “Not true at all. Vivek is in 80 percent of the film. He’s central to the drama. Vivek worked very hard on the role. He was in my room in Philadelphia every night to discuss his diction, dialogues and looks. I seem his career at the cusp of something really exciting.”

Perfectionist Aamir complain the music of 3 Idiots

If you thought you were the only one sick and tired of bad net speeds and server crashes, think again. Bollywood’s very own perfectionist Aamir Khan couldn’t help but complain as he seemed unsatisfied with the recently held online chat that was organized to launch the music of 3 Idiots.

Aamir writes in his latest blog post: "One day I will be able to organise a chat that way I imagine. Hasn’t happened yet, but we’ll get there. The big challenge is to be able to take the volume of traffic. By the time we finished with the lobby and I tried to enter my chat room, I discovered to my horror that I COULDN’T. TOO MUCH TRAFIC I WAS TOLD."

And then there is more. "So the tech team had to quickly create a new chat room for me. Well, I can tell you that the 3i cast and crew had a super time, and we were very happy and blessed to have in our midst the parents of Shantanu and Swanand."

On a lighter note, Aamir goes on to talk about sipping tea, watching the rain and missing his wife Kiran Rao, who’s shooting in Panchgani.

Katrina Kaif coped Tom Cruise Oprah Winfrey’s sofa jump

Bah! Our Katrina Kaif is far prettier on the eyes and can do the same thing - to trigger a chain reaction worldwide (remember, she is the most searched for name on the internet?).

Well, Tom jumped on Oprah Winfrey’s sofa to announce his love for Katie Holmes. And gorgeous Katz did so on an interview with Omar Qureshi on ZOOM, along with Ranbir Kapoor. Suddenly, without warning, while talking about her exciting new film, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani , Katrina went into ‘Hyper City’ mode and jumped up and down on the couch to shout how excited she was about the film. Even Ranbir gaped open-mouthed for a moment. But then quickly revealed that Katz’s code name on the sets was ‘Hyper City’.

“So when she’s very happy, we used to call her ‘Hyper City Happy Hour’. When she was in a bad mood, we said, ‘Hyper City is closed’. Or just plain Hyper City on normal days. We didn’t need any espresso shots on this set for sure,” revealed Ranbir. Later she pulled the interviewer out of his chair and grilled him instead.

It was an interview that was zany and crazy as hell; and you can imagine when they were asked how it felt to be ‘hot property’ - Ranbir added, “We’re like, hotter property than Malabar Hill and Pali Hill combined man. Aishwariya Rai will undertaken the Big Bs ABCL company

Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited is now on a revival mode and it seems that it is none other than daughter in law Aishwariya Rai Bachchan , who is the brains behind the all the marketing strategies that are being undertaken by the company. ’Paa’ is the first Hindi film that ABCL would be producing. The first venture, however, was the Marathi film ’Vihir’, which premiered at MAMI last week.

With ’Paa’, which stars Amitabh and son Abhishek, along with Vidya Balan, Ash is seen to one the head behind designing the concepts for the film’s marketing. And if that’s not enough, the lady is also working on procuring directors to work for ABCL.

She has been busy meeting and courting various directors and the list runs into the likes of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ashutosh Gowariker, R Balki, Anurag Kashyap and Sanjay Gadhvi.

She has also been reading scripts, and in general, is absolutely gung ho about ABCL and its future. Of course, the Big B and Jaya remain the final authorities on everything, but knowing how fond they are of her, they are quite content to leave her with the business details. Besides her current lot of films, Ash has her hands quite full now with ABCL.
