Katrina Kaif is not a natural born actor
Her sceptics may argue that Katrina Kaif is not a natural born actor. Yet no one can deny her colossal star power!
Her enviable record of 10 on 14 is unmatched by any of her contemporaries. Of course, when it comes to her performances.
And her interviews, Kat is always very measured. A tape-recorder is something she looks at bemusedly.
And her answers, especially in recent times, have been more correct than candid. However, after a few meetings with.
This Bollywood youth icon, you realise that when the machine is off, she’s a normal, young woman whose thoughts make for interesting reading.
So what’s on Kat’s mind right now? “Movies, movies and more movies,” says the actress who is working on Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan.

Katrina Kaif would join the big league in Bollywood one day
Katrina Kaif, who usually remains tight-lipped about her relationship with actor Salman Khan, says the star always guided her and genuinely believed she would join the big league in Bollywood one day.
"Salman had been always there, more than anything to guide because I didn’t know anything about the industry. What would remain special in my mind is that from the very beginning Salman told me that I will achieve this success in the industry. And at that point it was too far off," Katrina told in an interview.
"That time I couldn’t see myself one movie ahead, forget 15 movies ahead. I think that he believed it genuinely," the 25 -year-old actor said.
She entered Bollywood in 2003 with the dud "Boom". Her first big hit was 2005 romantic comedy "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya" in which she teamed up with Salman. After that she gave a string of hits, including "Namastey London", "Partner", "Welcome", "Singh Is Kinng" and critically acclaimed "New York".
But Katrina feels nobody can plan success.
"It’s (success) destiny, no one can plan it. There are many people who are connected with the industry because of their father, mother or other family members; still they are not able to achieve what is termed as success in the industry.
"You can come here, make two or three films, your co-stars could be your friends - all this you can plan but you can’t plan which film would be successful. The miracle that happened with my life has been the success of my films. Because, had those films not been successful, no one would have done anything for me," said Katrina.
She is now eager to take more responsibilities and do more diverse roles like the one she is doing in Prakash Jha’s "Raajneeti’, where she plays a politician.
"Till now I have done a genre of films. People have accepted me, loved me and have given me so much support. I never imagined getting so much. But I feel that there are other types of films to do. See other contemporary actors, they have done much more diverse roles.
"People can say that the success ratio of my films has been very, very good, but I still feel people should see me on other kinds of films too...
"May be something like a remake of ’Sita Aur Gita’...In ’Raajneeti’, I have more responsibility. But you will have to remember that there I am with six very important guys, all have very important roles," said Katrina.
The actress maintains she always wanted to do something unusual in life.
"I always used to make a world in my head and live in that. I always wanted to be something unusual. Some of the dreams I remember, they may sound stupid - I wanted to be a firefighter, I wanted to be a stunt woman, I wanted to got to NASA. Acting was something to fancy," said Katrina.

Actress Katrina Kaif will show up in a serious avatar
Katrina Kaif’s all sorted out. Kat woman will show up in a serious avatar, speaking in her own sensuous tone in Prakash Jha’s ’Raajneeti’, though she’s not averse to frontlining funny flicks too.
"Earlier, dubbing was a requirement and I had no problems with it," she asserts in a periodical chat. "As an actress I’m most comfortable in my romantic comedy space. Though as a viewer, I would look for more romantic films, than comedy."
Query Kat on the odious comparisons with her rivals: Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, and the star cannily states, "It’s not fair to get into ratings. It hardly matters as to what I think of my contemporaries. What matters most is what the directors concerned think when they’re casting for a project."
Ms. Diplomatic, anyone?

Katrina Kaif speak about her personal relationship with Salman Khan
The most talked about relationship of Bollywood is that of Salman Khan andKatrina Kaif . They claim to be a couple for five years but a sword of confusion always hangs over their relationship. Whenever, they speak about their personal relationship, they sound very dull.
It is very often reported that the couple has been broken up but Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif never went public about their relationship. Salman even has objection regarding various issues of Katrina.
He is not happy when Katrina wears revealing clothes or acts opposite his rival. He avoids Katrina and John starrer, ‘New York’ and it seems Kat has taken a revenge of the same by not watching the first promo of ‘Veer’.
Salman has been receiving accolades for his look and acting in ‘Veer’ but Katrina prefers to give it a miss. When quips about taking a glance at Salman’s ‘Veer’, Kat said that she has not yet seen ‘Veer’ promo.

Katrina Kaif is now comfortably placed in the Top-3 bracket of actresses
Along with Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra,Katrina Kaif is now comfortably placed in the Top-3 bracket of actresses. It is of academic interest then to know which of the three actresses are holding on to the No. 1 spot. But the fact remains that after New York and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, if Katrina manages to get a success in De Dana Dan and Rajneeti as well, she would almost step up towards the coveted position. A day before the release of De Dana Dan, Katrina Kaif talks to Joginder Tuteja about the number game, people who have made a difference to her career and the reason behind signing a film like De Dana Dan when she has author backed roles coming her way.
After Boom, when you started rebuilding your career, you got Sarkar with Ram Gopal Varma , Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya with David Dhawan and Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye with Raj Kanwar. However, most recognition came your way with Vipul Shah’s Namastey London. Which of these films/people do you think have contributed most in causing a turning point in your career?I think that every movie and filmmaker has helped me a little bit in moving ahead over the years. In this journey of mine, they have all been a great help and guided me into taking a step in the right direction to being successful.
With such good success coming your way, the throne of No. 1 doesn’t seem too far away. So why do you or any other actor for that matter shy away from talking about reaching the top position?Really, actors never get into the number game because it is of no use. See! The point is that if you say that you are there, what is left to achieve? Nothing! right? The best part is to just keep moving on and pick the best roles and filmmakers that come your way.
I am sure you would be continuing to choose the best scripts. However, being at the top has its own perks, most importantly the remuneration factor, isn’t it?See, remuneration is a very personal thing so one should keep that out of the equation. As long as people trust you for working hard and believe that you are a professional, it’s great.
Today, you have close to a dozen odd successful films behind you. For someone who was written off 6 years back after the release of Boom (2003), you are a case study of someone who has indeed come a long way and seen quite a few highs and lows. Due to the volatile situation of Bollywood, do you actually get impacted by all the adulation and superstar talks?
Frankly, I take it all with a pinch of salt. One can never get too carried away in this industry because at the end of the day, it doesn’t help you achieve anything at all. The best way is to look at the work you are doing and continue to make careful choices.
In Namastey London, you played Jasmeet. In De Dana Dan, you are yet again playing a pucca Punjabi named Anjali Kakkad. Having fun playing such characters?(Laughs) But I am not really speaking in Punjabi and I haven’t even put on a Punjabi lingo for De Dana Dan. Since the film is set in Singapore, I talk in regular Hindi and that’s about it.
This is your fifth film with Akshay as a leading lady after Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye, Namastey London, Welcome and (if one discounts Blue where you were in a special appearance). The popular theory is that Akshay is lucky for you from the very beginning of your career. However, hasn’t it ever occurred to you that perhaps you are lucky for him as well?
Come on, none of us have ever thought like that. I don’t even think Akshay ever says that he is lucky for me. Same holds good vice versa as well. There is no logic to it, you know. Both of us take one film at a time and do it on its merits rather than just the pairing factor.
Looking at the promos and after speaking to other people associated with De Dana Dan, it appears that the movie is a really mad affair. After Kabir Khan (New York) and Raj Kumar Santoshi (Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani), working in a Priyadarshan setup must have been an entirely different world, right?
Yes, De Dana Dan is indeed a mad film. The humour out there is crazy. To add to that, there is lot of glamour in it as well, which makes it a good looking, crazy-mad entertainer. I really wanted to do a film with Priyan. I did it just for the experience and I am glad I did it.
However, after movies like New York and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, you seem to be taken seriously as an actor who is enjoying all the screen space as a solo leading lady. In De Dana Dan though, there are a couple of dozen odd characters around. Hypothetically speaking, would you be working in a movie like De Dana Dan tomorrow again considering the current box office pull that you enjoy?Actually, it is ok to do one such film a year. As I said earlier, I did De Dana Dan for a unique experience since I hadn’t worked in a movie like this earlier. Tomorrow if something like this comes up, I will do it for sure.
Well, in the interim we also would see you in Rajneeti. It’s a case of everything fitting in just perfectly - with a completely contrasting character, following the one that you play in De Dana Dan?
Oh yes, Rajneeti has a very good role. It has a different sensibility to it and it should be a good follow up to the films of mine that have released in 2009. Rajneeti should be a good way to start 2010.

Katrina Kaif has moved on from Salman to Ranbir
We are actually referring to the name Prem; a name which Salman Khan made famous in his series of films with the Barjatyas of Rajshri Productions. Now everyone knows about the Barjatya’s infatuation with the name ’Prem’ how after playing ’Prem’ in 3 films for Rajshri, recently even Shahid Kapoor stepped into the ’Prem’ image in ’Vivah’.
But what most people seem to have forgotten is that 15 years ago in ’Andaz Apna Apna’, Salman played the character of ’Prem’ and once again Rajkumar Santoshi has chosen to go with the same name for the protagonist of his film, which this time is being played by Ranbir.
So while that ’Prem’ romanced Ranbir’s cousin sister Karisma Kapoor, this Prem will be romancing Salman’s girlfriend Katrina. Must say, quite a prem bhari ... opps... we mean pyar bhari journey from then to now.
