Actor Harman Baweja trying his luck
Come Friday and destinies are decided at the altar of the fickle goddess called success, luck. Call it what you will. Cliched as it may sound, but Friday rules strong over the Bollywood tribe. This Friday should see actor Harman Baweja trying his luck, once again at the box office.
Of course, everybody is only talking about Ashutosh Gowariker and actress Priyanka Chopra’s 12 different avataars in the movie, ’What’s Your Raashee?’. The actor had a disastrous debut with his home production, ’Love Story 2050’, directed by is father Harry Baweja.
But somehow he has managed to not get written off totally by the media and all who matter in the industry. After all, Gowarikar had the option of dropping him from the project but the director was able to withstand the pressure and stick to his gut decision to retain the actor in ’What’s Your Raashee?’ Failure is not something that is altogether new for Gowariker. Before he became the Ashtosh Gowarikar, top notch director, and much before ’Lagaan’ happened, he has faced his days of struggle and rejection. And one guesses that may have prompted him to stick to his initial decision of casting Harman in his next project. The ace director has gone on print to admit that he decided to stick by Harman because he believed in his talent and had liked what he saw of him in his debut movie.
’What’s Your Raashee?’ is also the second movie that Priyanka is doing with Harman, the fate of the first is known to everybody. Subsequently a lot of things have changed between the couple, who reportedly split and are now back to being good friends and colleagues. To cite a cliché once again, yes, this is a crucial Friday for Harman. He has literally been given another chance, this time on a platter to prove his credentials as an actor. Over to the public!

Shahid Kapur is all set to become the next Bollywood superstar
With hits like ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Kaminey’, Shahid Kapur finally transcends the chocolate boy image for author-backed roles as the hero is all set to become the next Bollywood superstar. Continuing his dream run at Box Office, Shahid will be taking a nine-month sabbatical to prepare for the shoot of his next flick ‘Mausam’, which will be directed by his father Pankaj Kapur.
‘Mausam’ marks the first directorial venture of maverick actor Pankaj Kapur. According to Bollywood news, it is believed that Shahid wants to concentrate on his father’s flick and thereby won’t be taking any acting assignments until July 2010. The movie shoot will commence from January 2010 and will be produced by Religare Vistaar Entertainment.
‘Mausam’ is a romantic flick that will be shot in four outdoor locales- the UK, Italy, Spain, Austria apart from India.
Confirming the reports to a news daily, a close source said, “Though there is still some time before the shooting starts, Shahid will begin preparing for the film long before January 2010. He has been urging is father to direct a film for many years. In fact, if Shahid had his way, his debut would’ve been with his father’s film. But Pankaj likes to work at his own pace and only with those he’s comfortable with. They’ve found the right producer now.”
The source further added, “The romantic film’s screenplay is written by Pankaj Kapur, spreads over 10 years.”
Incidentally, ‘Mausam’ is looking for a fresh female face, which will be launched opposite Shahid. It is believed that an all-India hunt will take place to search a new face for the film. “The girl has to be fresh-faced, innocent, virginal and has to have a never-seen-before quality,” said the source on the kind of girl they are looking for ‘Mausam.’
Let’s see whether the father-son jodi clicks at the Box Office!

Rehan Khan another film which is basically a musical about dancers
Rehan Khan. The name may not possibly ring a bell. After a modest debut in JAANA - LET’S FALL IN LOVE, he played a small, though important part, in Emraan Hashmi starrer AWARAPAN. Now he is ready with his latest film FAST FORWARD (which releases this Friday) where he plays a quintessential leading man. So is looking at FAST FORWARD as the film that would ’Fast Forward’ his career in Bollywood? Talking to us, Rehan answers this and a lot more as he looks forward to the release of the film.
After ROCK ON and JASHNN, we see yet another film which is basically a musical about dancers. Rehan elaborates about the same, ’That’s right, FAST FORWARD is hardcore musical with lots of dances. There are 6-7 tracks completely based on dancing. In fact there were dancers called all the way from Mauritius and US. I too had to go through this rigorous dancing training. It was particularly challenging for me since I came into the project when there was just one month remaining for the shoot to begin.’
Coming back to the film, since he just had a month for himself, how did he go about getting it all right before the film was ready to come on floors?
’I trained for 23 days and rehearsed for 13-14 hours a day - it was as simple and tough as this [laughs]. Sets for my songs were in place and in my dance I was also required to include some stunts. My producer though gave me all the safety precautions. The film is really important for all of us, whether it is me, Akshay (Kapoor), director Zaigham Ali Syed,’ Rehan remembers his rehearsal days.
The film has three leads. Didn’t that made him a bit insecure of getting sidelined? But Rehan is unfazed with the fact that it being a multistarrer film, ’See, the two leads in the film are Akshay and me, though primarily it’s my story. Siddhant is the villain in the film. He is a very good guy in real life though (laughs). I wish him as well as Akshay all the luck; they both are really hard working. Rahi baat insecurity ki toh I was never insecure. That’s because Zaigham had given me a show reel of the movie way before the shooting. I knew what the film was all about and where did I fit in.’
Rehan further adds, ’In any case I have never been insecure. Even in my forthcoming release CLICK, there is Shreyas (Talpade) as well in the lead. It’s fine because I do my work and don’t really have time to know who is doing what. As long as my producers and director are happy with my work, I am quite comfortable about my positioning in a project.’
So what kind of a role he plays? Is he friends with the other members who come together for a band or rival?
Rehan discloses, ’Akshay and I are poor boys from Nalasopara while Siddhant is one rich guy from Worli. So it’s like this ’rich gang going against the poor gang’ thing going on. Bhavna Pani plays my sister in the film and both of us have a great track running for us.’
And by now he must be quite impatient with his release round the corner. ’Actually, not at all! That’s because patience is the new mantra everywhere because it pays in the end. I am only 26 years old and the world is wide open in front of me. Even when I didn’t have a release since AWARAPAN, I wasn’t loosing my sleep. I was quietly working on three movies back to back (CLICK, FAST FORWARD, TUM MILO TO SAHI). Yes, I wish, pray and hope that FAST FORWARD clicks with the audiences,’ signs off cool, calm & composed Rehan.

Nakul Vaid is looking forward to the release of his next film
Actor Nakul Vaid is looking forward to the release of his next film ‘As The River Flows’ which is based in Assam. He gets candid in an interview and talks about the film and his career.
What is the film all about?
Film is basically based in Assam. It throws lights on the issue that has prevailed in the north-eastern states of India. There are different characters in the film who look differently at any give situation, and react accordingly.
What is your character in the film?
I cannot precisely talk about the character in the film, as certain characters are given out in the film as the story progresses. All I can say, I am playing a guy who is an idealist but has limited outlook and thus goes astray in the separatist prone state.
Shed some light on the story of the film?
It is the story of an island that is submerged during rains and emerges when it is dry. It is a story of a missing journalist and his friend who returns to the island in search of him.
You have mostly done a serious film, from Ab Tak Chappan to As the River Flows?
I do have a fascination to masala movies, but doing an intense film is a learning experience. As you have to become a part of the environment based on the real-life situations you ought to do your own homework. Serious issue-based films need lot of understanding, and in the process of understanding it is also my personal growth.
You started as an Assistant Director in Raja, so where is the director gone?
I did that job only to know how the film industry functions. I was in class 12 when I assisted the director, but in near future I do not see myself directing a film. I may get into filmmaking only when I am well aquatinted with the art of filmmaking.
So what kinds of films would you make in future?
With the grace of technology and make up, I wish to make Mr. Bachchan a young chap and make him romance the young actresses of Bollywood.

Dil Bole Hadippa’s release clashed with Salman Khan’s Wanted
Dil Bole Hadippa’s release clashed with Salman Khan’s Wanted which has ended up becoming the breakout success of the year and is set to break all box office records.
A source tells us, ’After the debacle of Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic Rani had her hopes pinned high on Dil Bole Hadippa and worked her butt to get a toned figure for the movie. She played a Punjabi kudi, a male cricketer and a bikini-clad glam doll. To top it, she went all over, all dolled-up to promote the movie but her efforts didn’t pay off. It is also a mystery as to why a film like that was chosen to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival because after all, it is a remake of Disney movie She’s The Man, starring Amanda Bynes which was not worth remaking in the first place.’
The source goes on to add, ’Also, the movie is like a heroine-centric version of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi as here the heroine has a double role and her co-star doesn’t recognize her. The movie faced problems from day one as the director Anurag Singh wasn’t competent enough and Adi and Rani wanted several portions to be re-shot. Rani even contributed off the camera.’
Another thing that hasn’t worked in Rani’s favour is her exclusive association with YRF and her arrogance. Our source says, ’Rani is hardly PR and media savvy and in today’s times that is of utmost importance. Look at actresses like Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif who attend several events in a month, pose on magazine covers and stay in the limelight. Rani was out of the limelight for over a year and suddenly surfaced to promote her movie. She was obviously very nice to everyone as she is desperate for a hit. There was a time when she had one release lined up after another and everybody wanted to work with her but her snooty attitude and temper has driven people away. The actress may have very powerful friends who she has worked with in the past but now they aren’t keen to be associated with her professionally though their friendship may be intact.’
Rani hardly paid attention to the directors of LCMD and TPTM and acted very high-handed because she is apparently the maalkin or madam of YRF, given her alleged association with Aditya Chopra. Her success and acting prowess has gone to her head. She has become infamous for her foul temper. Earlier Rani took pride in being a YRF heroine and it made sense then with successes like Veer Zaara, Saathiya, Hum Tum and Bunty aur Babli in her kitty. After that, Ta Ra Rum Pum, LCMD, TPTM and now Dil Bole Hadippa have flopped. She should have signed other films after TRRP, LCMD and TPTM failed but she didn’t as she thought Dil Bole would be the film of her career. Sadly, her hopes have been dashed. On the bright side, Rani’s performance has been appreciated as always and her chemistry with Shahid is sparkling. Both of them have delivered very sincere performances but that hasn’t been enough to salvage the no-brainer.’
Rani’s latest release has been a disappointment and she doesn’t have any other films on hand. Will the Queen reign again? We think it is best of she admits to her relationship with Adi and has a grand wedding before audiences and the media lose interest in her. If the wedding isn’t an option then she should do her best to make amends and work with directors outside of the YRF camp

Sushmita Sen to being impersonated on the social networking websites
Sushmita Sen who is by now used to being impersonated on the social networking websites has now woken up to a horror beyond the expected.
An impersonator of the actress on Facebook has actually started asking for money in her name for charity.
Sen is far from amused, "It’s not a game. My impersonator has even opened an account where charitable Facebook participants can donate money."
The actress who admittedly is not net-savvy, is appalled by the liberties that are being taken, "I’ve been smiling a little indulgently at all these fake Sushmita Sens on Facebook and Twitter.
I thought as long as they were not harming me, let them have fun. But now when someone decides to open a charitable account on my behalf it’s time to get up and do something to stop people."
Sushmita got to know of the imposter’s monetary maneuvers only when friends called to ask how many zeroes they should put on their cheques.
"I was zapped! I was like... huh! I do love giving to charitable causes, but not in this tacky way.
Whoever has the nerve to ask for money and open a website for the purpose trusted in my charitable instincts a bit too much."
The actress wants to make it clear that she is in no way associated with the Sushmita Sen asking people for money online, "Let me make it very clear.
I am not on Facebook, Twitter or anything. And I’m certainly not into asking for money for charity on the internet. Hey guys, that’s not me!"

Resembles his onscreen character in real life too-Vrajesh Hirjee
Vrajesh Hirjee aka Aditya of Shree Adi Manav, the guy who is essaying the role of a deaf guy in the show resembles his onscreen character in real life too. Don’t be afraid, he is not deaf, but is definitely humorous enough to bring a smile on anyone’s face.
While having a chitchat he reveals, “I don’t know what is wrong with me; not only my dear audience, but also my parents laugh at me when I enter my house.”
When we asked him on his entry in small screen, he playfully replies, “It maybe big or small screen, but at the end of the day I have to do the same job of making people relax and laugh, so it hardly makes any difference for me to be in serials, instead of films.”
Vrajesh, you are absolutely right when it comes to your talent of making people chuckle. After all, laughter is the best medicine, isn’t it?

Actress Priyanka Chopra revealed that playing the Capricorn teenager
Priyanka Chopra, who is eyeing a Guinness record by playing 12 brides-in-waiting in Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s your Rashee, says this is one feat she would love to tell her grandchildren about. The actress revealed that playing the Capricorn teenager was the most difficult of all the roles.
In What’s your Rashee?, which is based on Madhu Rye’s Gujarati novel Kimball Ravenswood, Priyanka plays the roles of 12 girls who meet bride-hunting NRI Yogesh Patel played by Hurman Baweja.
"The role of the Capricorn girl was toughest for me," said the actress, who walked the red carpet at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday with co-star Hurman and Gowariker.
In the film, the Capricorn girl named Jhankhana is just 15 years old. "To play a 15-year-old girl without make-up or special effects to make me look younger was the most challenging role for me. I had to look 15 years old just through my body language. I didn’t want any of the l2 girls to be caricatures or not look real," Priyanka said.
The former Miss World said she had to make subtle variations in her walk, talk and mannerisms to portray each of the 12 characters. "I used a lot of voice variations, but at the same time I didn’t want to sound fake.
"The only thing I could change was clothes, hair, the body language and the way I speak," she said.
The Bollywood actress, who is set to enter the Guinness Book of Records for playing 12 female roles in a film, laughed and said: "It is not official yet. Yes, it is great even to be considered that I am the first female actor in the world to have played that many parts. It is fantastic...it is something that I would like to tell my grandkids."
Priyanka said playing multiple roles in the movie was "one of the greatest six months of my life. It was the most daunting task of my life so far".
But she added she was lucky to get multiple roles very early in her career. "Usually, the actors who have played multiple roles have been very experienced. For me, this is a huge honour."
Priyanka said she now believes in sun sign compatibility in her real life as well. "Before this movie, I used to read horoscopes in the morning just out of curiosity and to get some fun. However, my logical mind refused to believe how everyone in the entire world can be clubbed into just 12 groups."
But once she started doing this movie and researching on the characteristics of each sun sign, she said, she started believing that human beings under same sun signs have some common traits.
"I am a Cancerian born in July...I have met so many people from across the world under this sun sign. Uncannily, they have similar characteristics like me - being emotional, homely. There is something about it (sun signs) for sure," Priyanka said.

Shahrukh Khan will be enticed by Aamir’s advertising
Shahrukh Khan has been promoting Dish TV for around two years now and he even renewed his contract for another eighteen months.
He being the ambassador of Dish TV, has made so many people buy it. But it seems as if he isn’t very sure of what he’s marketing for himself!
Recently, the satellite seen installed on top of the extension behind Mannat is not Dish TV but the brand that Aamir Khan advertises for.
Usually, if SRK endorses a product, he sticks by it, like his soft drink endorsement or the watches. But this was a huge surprise! Is he by any chance enticed by Aamir’s advertising? Can’t say!

Today's educational system to guide our youngsters
Sanjay Dutt had thumbed his nose at academic qualifications by fudging his way through a doctorate. Now in Faltu, he questions our educational system in a less satirical far more serious tone.
When Vashu Bhagnani wanted to re-launch his son, he needed an A-lister as a box-office support.
Every leading man declined politely. Only Bollywood dildaar, Sanju Baba, came forward to work with Jackky Bhagnani in a film that starts in September to be directed by choreographer Remo. It will star Sanjay Dutt and Vashu’s son Jackky who made his debut this year with Kal Kissne Dekha.
Jackky’s second film is not an escapist entertainer. Says Vashu, "It’s a film about the lacuna in present-day education. When I heard Remo’s story, I was bowled over. It’s about the failure of today’s educational system to guide our youngsters into suitable careers. It’s about how there’s too much stress in and on academics and too little on actually tapping every child’s potential. Remo has earlier made an award-winning Bengali film (Lal Paharer Katha with Mithun Chakbraborty)."
Vashu’s son’s post-debut film going by the improbable title of Faltu sounds like a departure from convention.
"It is," concedes Vashu. "But nothing conventional works any more. I want to bring new talent into the industry. And the title is an acronym. I can’t reveal the full form. It will give away the plot."

Riteish Deshmukh admits that he is very "fond" of his co-star Lara Dutta
Riteish Deshmukh admits that he is very "fond" of his co-star Lara Dutta.
"My camaraderie with Lara is excellent and I am extremely fond of her. I have worked with her before; so I share a certain rapport with her," said Riteish.
Do Knot Disturb is his third film with the former beauty queen after Bardaasht and Masti. "As colleagues it is important to have on-screen chemistry and when you are doing comedy it is important to have the right timing and everything. Both of us understand that.
"It’s great that there are times when we got a scene and we didn’t need to rehearse because I know exactly what Lara is going to do and she knows exactly what I’m going to do," added the actor who is also doing Sajid Khan’s Housefull with the actress.
Do Knot Disturb also stars Govinda and Sushmita Sen and is slated to hit screens October 2. The 30-year-old actor, who has emerged as a comic star after doing a series of comedies like Masti, Dhamaal, Heyy Baby and Kyaa Kool Hai Hum among others, revealed that his dream of working with Govinda was realised when he was offered this film. "I always wanted to work with Govinda and David Dhawan. I’m glad that both these people came together in a single film."
So was he insecure or nervous about working with the king of comedy? "Insecurity comes in when there is competition. In my head it is very clear that Govinda is a far superior actor. He is an institution. You cannot compete with him. Once you understand this, you are free to do as you wish and there is freedom to give your best," he said.
But at the same time Riteish admits while shooting for the laugh riot he was on his toes. "I was always on my toes because Govinda is such a good actor that you don’t want to let him down or let the scene down because of your incompetence. I tried to do as good as possible so that I can match up to his talent and calibre. I didn’t want people to say that Govinda is doing so well, but Riteish is spoiling it," he added.
When asked about his reason to stick to mainly comic capers, Riteish, who started his career in 2003 with Tujhe Meri Kasam, says that it is not a deliberate attempt to limit himself in one genre.
"Doing comedies is not a deliberate attempt. When certain films work, those are the kinds of offers that keep coming to you; that’s the reason why I feature mostly in laugh riots," elucidated Riteish.
"But I’m glad that now I have some films which are not comedies. So I’m looking forward to other genres. It’s important for these films to do well so that more such films get offered to me."
Riteish will be seen in three non-comedies that include Aladin, Rann and Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai.

Shah Rukh and Aamir regularly taking potshots at each other
Those who thought that the war between the two superstars, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, was over after they came together on a common platform for the multiplex issue are actually wrong. On Sunday night, Aamir Khan made another dig at Shah Rukh when he returned to Mumbai after vacationing in France.
An eye witness present at the international airport says, “When Aamir walked in late on Sunday night, he was approached for an interview by a TV reporter. Since Aamir had returned from France, the reporter wanted to know whether, he too, like SRK, was stopped at international airports and interrogated for being a Khan. That’s when Aamir retorted that such checks are a routine matter. He also added tongue-in-cheek that, ‘No one checks me as I am an idiot’, obviously referring to his forthcoming film, 3 Idiots. Then he went on to add that SRK had a problem as he is very intelligent. Aamir’s obvious reference means that the fuss created by SRK about being stopped at the airports was a mere publicity stunt. Now it remains to be seen when SRK will respond.”
This war of words has been raging for long between the two stars, with Shah Rukh and Aamir regularly taking potshots at each other. However, when the film industry got together for the multiplex issue, the two Khans forgetting their differences, came together on the same platform to express their solidarity. But now, again, Aamir’s dig at SRK has set tongues wagging in the film industry about the so-called bonhomie between the two superstars.
Incidentally, Salman Khan had also made similar comments about SRK on the same issue by saying that everyone has to go through these routine security checks at international airports, so what’s the big deal?

Sridevi with husband Boney Kapoor on the show
It is a star bonanza on Salman’s show ’10 Ka Dum’ in the coming week, the beginning of the festive season, as for the first time the viewers will get to see popular actress Sridevi with husband Boney Kapoor on the show. Coincidentally, Boney is the producer of Salman’s next relaease ’Wanted’ while Salman has acted with Sridevi in ’Chandramukhi’,
so the comfort level between the Kapoors and the Khan does seem to exist. Sridevi, who had taken a sabbatical and was away from arch lights for almost 10 years after her marriage and children, came specially to promote her husband’s film ’Wanted’ and made the exception for ’10 Ka Dum’ only because she has worked with Salman in the past and just couldn’t say no to him.
Salman even joked about the ten year gap by saying "Aapne 10 saal baad camera face kiya, wo bhi ’Dus Ka Dum’ ke liye?". They are joined by the film’s actress Ayesha Takia Azmi with Prabhudeva, who makes his debut as a director with the film ’Wanted’. For Sridevi, who looked as ravishing as ever it seemed like a family outing with daughters Jahnavi and Khushi also with her on the show. While Salman and Sridevi regaled the audience with some lighter moments from their last movie together, there were more celebrity guests in the audience. Salman’s buddies music directors Sajid and Wajid were in the audience too. The music directors rocked the show with their brand of singing and music with special sound effects. A delighted Salman Khan quipped: "Now we can all shamelessly promote our film ’Wanted’!"

The entire town is studded with the mania of Dance Premiere League (DPL) over television screens in the recent times. The latest buzz rounding up in air is that producers of this show have roped in B-Town celebrities Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Salman Khan, Arshad Warsi and Sohail Khan as ’super selectors’ for various regions.
With merely one slot remaining, confusions strike Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. Both the stars don’t want to miss this golden opportunity as it would offer them best space for promoting their films.

Natasha sister of Ayesha Takia to enter the Bollywood
Ayesha Takia’s sister is also poised for a film career.
Says Ayesha, “My sister Natasha who’s 21 will be in films next year. Hopefully she’ll be welcomed in the industry like other star sisters. I’m very excited for her. Let’s hope her career works. She’s preparing herself, working out ferociously. When I started out I had no clue about these things. At least now when they know I’m her sister they’ll give her a chance. There’re so many beautiful girls in this country. Maybe they’ll watch Natasha at least the first time because she’s my sister. But there’s the downside. They’ll start comparing us. Audiences are so unforgiving. They give you one chance, and then they let go.”
Ayesha would like Natasha to be received like Kareena who became a bigger star than her sister Karishma. Other star sisters like Kajol’s Tanisha and Shilpa’s Shamita were cold-shouldered by the audience.
Ayesha’s sister makes her debut early next year. Audience will now get to see more of Natasha and less of Ayesha on screen. “I’ve done it for so long. I’m now enjoying making my own rules. I’m having a ball concentrating on business ventures. My first boutique hotel in Goa is on. We were hoping to start it this season.”

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)
"I am over the moon at this privilege given to Dil Bole Hadippa to be the first-ever Bollywood film to be premiered at the Toronto festival before its release in India," Anurag, son of producer K P Singh, said.
"It is a family entertainment masala which will appeal to anyone. Its rip-roaring music will be a hit, I guess," he said.
Set wholly in rural Punjab, the Yash Raj Films production also stars Sherlyn Chopra, Anupam Kher, Dalip Tahil and Rakhi Sawant. Singh said they chose the Punjabi-sounding title and Punjab for the shooting because of the north Indian state’s cultural vibrancy and its global appeal.
"Another unique thing about this film-cum-comedy is that there is no trace of any city or skyscrapers in it. We did all our shooting in villages outside Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Amritsar over 80 days," he said.
Asked why he chose Rani and Shahid for the lead role, he said: "I wanted to bring in a pair which had never worked together before. There is some sort of freshness about Rani and Shahid working together. There was instant chemistry between the two. For Shahid, it is an entirely different role after Kaminey."
Singh, who has assisted Rakesh Roshan in five films, said he was asked to direct Dil Bole Hadippa by Aditya Chopra, his childhood friend. And it was while writing the script that Singh visualised Rani and Shahid as the lead pair.
"When Aditya and I were working on the script, we had only Rani and Shahid in mind. The two agreed to the role the moment we sat with them with the script," Singh said.
"Aditya, Hrithik Roshan and I grew up together. In fact, Aditya and I watched every single movie every Friday for 20 years. So doing Dil Bole... is kind of a home production for me. And it was Hrithik who asked me to work with his dad. I have learnt my art from Rakesh Roshan," he said.
The film is set for release in India and 20-odd countries Sep 18.
Singh, who has a three-film contract with Yash Raj Films, said he looked forward to a break before starting on his next venture.
"I will take a month’s break and then think about the next film," said the director who also co-produced films like Hum To Mohabbat Karega and Jurm.
What’s your Raashee? is another Bollywood film being premiered next week at the festival that is on till September 19.

Anil Kumble looked every bit of a star on the ramp
He has been a charmer on the cricket field all through his career, but Anil Kumble also proved his mettle as a showstopper on the fashion runway Friday as he walked the Van Heusen India Mens Week (VHIMW) ramp confidently and with an electrifying smile for designer Manoviraj Khosla.
"Anil Kumble looked every bit of a star on the ramp. Though he is a star, he was extremely confident and looked great on the ramp," Khosla told reporters after the show.
Kumble wore a formal look, with a classic black suit complete with a black and white tie, while model-turned-Bollywood actor Dino Morea looked smart yet graceful in a pristine white dinner jacket with black slim fit trousers.
For Dino, a former supermodel, walking the ramp as a showstopper was "exciting".
Having entered Bollywood, he said: "I miss modelling. There is always so much excitement and energy on the ramp. I have walked the ramp after a long time and I was a little nervous."

Hrithik Roshan’s wife Sussanne was robbed in Italy
Yesterday,Hrithik Roshan’s wife Sussanne was robbed in Italy. The unfortunate incident happened at Milan airport around 3pm IST when Sussanne and her mother Zarine Khan were about to board a Mumbai-bound flight after their holiday.
The drama unfolded when Zarine discovered that her bag was missing. A source said, “The bag contained a few valuables, credit cards, and most importantly Sussanne and Zarine’s passports.” Consequently,Sussanne and her mother were stranded in Milan. They are expected to return to Mumbai either tonight or tomorrow.
Sussanne and Zarine immediately notified the airport authorities about the theft and tried their best to locate the thief at the airport but it was a futile attempt.
When the two then called up their family and friends to inform them about their ordeal, the Khans and Roshans quickly made a few arrangements from Mumbai so that Sussanne and Zarine would have to undergo as little trouble as possible. To begin with, photocopies of their passports were emailed to Sussanne. Thereafter, Sussanne and Zarine approached the Indian Embassy who issued them new passports. The two ladies again checked into the same hotel where they had been staying during their vacation as they had missed their flight and couldn’t board the next immediate one since their passports were in the stolen bag.
“It was a harrowing experience for Sussanne and Zarine. They were terribly upset after the theft. After a long holiday, the last thing they expected was to have a problem like this on their return journey,” added our source.
Confirming the story, Sussanne’s sister Farah Ali Khan said, “Yes, all this did happen. It was rather unfortunate. I spoke to my mother and sister and they are fine now.”

Rani Mukherjee trying co star Shahid to take up yoga
Not content with shedding all those excess kilos and getting into super shape for her role of a cricketer in ’Dil Bole Hadippa’, actress Rani Mukherjee is now also trying to entice co star Shahid to take up yoga. This is something which even his former girlfriend Kareena Kapoor could not get him into.
Apparently, Rani has gone even a step further and even offered to lend her trainer to the actor. Incidentally, Rani’s trainer trained Kareena during the Tashan days, when the actress was trying to acquire her size zero figure. Talk of connections. Meanwhile, Shahid is believed to be quite open to the offer of going the yoga way as he is looking for something which is more natural and holistic.
Of course, the transformation in Rani is proof enough of that. The actress seems to have gambled heavily in ’Dil Bole Hadippa’. She has done things that she never needed to do in career before, like getting into a bikini. In her time, Rani never needed to resort to all that. But times have changed and it is Rani who needs to lure in the audiences. And so the actress has done everything that she can to match up with today’s girls. One hopes for her sake that the film works. It has lots going for it and the icing on the cake should be the presence of Shahid, who is on an all time high after the success of ’Kaminey’. Maybe, Rani’s gesture of lending her trainer is just her way of saying ’thank you’ to the young actor.

Shahid Kapur make bare necessities in his growingup days
Unlike the kids of famous superstars who revel in luxuries, Shahid Kapur had to make do with bare necessities in his growing-up days. Imagine this, he had a motorbike but often didn’t have the money to buy petrol for it.
"I’m from a very middle-class background, I’ve gone through tough times when I had a bike but didn’t even have Rs 50 to put petrol in it," Shahid revealed his struggling days in a candid chat with Farah Khan on her show ’Tere Mere Beach Mein’.
After the success of Kaminey, Shahid may have become one of the most sought-after stars with a fat pay-cheque, but the actor hasn’t forgotten his initial days in the film industry, when he was paid peanuts for his debut movie.
"I got Rs 1 lakh for Ishq Vishq. After it became a hit, I signed my next film for Rs 35 lakh and got Rs 5 lakh as signing amount. I remember going home with the cheque of Rs 5 lakh and telling mum, ’Mom, in three days, we will have Rs 5 lakh in our bank account!’ Life changed for me after Ishq Vishq," Shahid revealed.
Shahid’s career turned around with Sooraj Bharjatya’s film Vivaah. The actor admitted that he was a bundle of nerves while doing the film and even a pep-talk by the director (inspiring Shahid to believe in his talent) failed to rev him up.
"I was unconvinced and gave one shot, then I saw it on the monitor and I said, I’ve given a perfect shot I know my work.’ After that I used to just focus on my work," Shahid said.
Though the movie became a hit, Shahid said his toughest phase began after ’Vivaah’.
"The most difficult phase was after ’Vivaah’ was a super hit. I was at home for six months without work. I got some 60 film offers but none inspired me," said Shahid who later gave superhits like Jab We Met and ’Kaminey’.
To be aired on Saturday, the show also had Genelia D’Souza as the co-guest. Shahid donated his favourite cap for auction while Genelia gave a dress for the same charitable cause.

20th Century Fox to collaborating with Kollywood and Bollywood
Having tapped the Indian market by distributing films like "Slumdog Millionaire " and "Quick Gun Murugun", Hollywood studio Fox Star now wants to foray into production by collaborating with the "best talent". And language is no bar.
"We only want to do five films a year. We are trying to really focus on and pick those films that audiences are really passionate about. We want to make films which entertain audiences and are commercially successful," Fox Star CEO Vijay Singh said in an interview.
"What is critical is that those five films have to represent something different about Bollywood going forward. We have to make sure that the elements and the process are right. We want to work with the best talent and that best talent could manifest itself with us," he added.
Singh stressed a "portfolio" approach to the movies that would have a combo of "big, medium and small-budget" films.
"What we`ve set up in India is a studio approach (that is) both production and distribution. Our focus is to take the Bollywood films we make to the diaspora across the world," said Singh.
"What we are trying to do is to see how we can do films which have something different about them. Looking back at the last 12-18 months, anything that`s working in Bollywood has a point of difference as doing more of the same is no longer the way out. Bollywood till date is making films only for Indians and the diaspora, but times are changing," he added.
Fox Star has been hogging the limelight for acquiring the global rights of Karan Johar`s upcoming film "My Name Is Khan" - excluding music rights - reportedly for USD 20 million.
" `My Name Is Khan` is one of the most anticipated films and it doesn`t get bigger than that and we are really excited about it," he said.
"We`ve also signed on a two-film deal each with Vipul (Amrutlal) Shah and AR Murugadoss. With Murugadoss, it`s going to be Tamil films and with Vipul, it`ll be mainstream cinema. We have another two-three films in a developing stage, but we would not like to announce them now," he added.
As far as distribution goes, films made in India under Fox Star will be distributed here by that company, in the US by its sister company Fox Searchlight and in the rest of the world by parent group 20th Century Fox.
The studio has also been regularly releasing its international content in Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions apart from those in Hindi and English.
Singh said: "If we release only in English, we find that there is a scarcity of consumers. But if we are able to dub them, we are able to reach a much wider audience.
"There are a lot of people who are keen to see a Hollywood film but may be they are more comfortable hearing it in a language or idiom they are more familiar with and these four languages (Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu) represent the biggest language opportunities that exist (here)," he explained.
A late entrant in the Indian market (2008), the joint venture company between 20th Century Fox and Asian media company Star, it has been maintaining an impressive growth rate especially after multiple-Oscar winning underdog drama "Slumdog Millionaire" that did a business of around Rs. 40 crore (Rs 400 million) in India alone.
Fox Star is also looking at a sequel to "Quick Gun...", tentatively titled "The Good, The Bad and The Idli".

The mutual love affair between Kareena Kapoor and fashion designer
With her size zero frame and mesmerizing features Kareena Kapoor has inspired many desi fashion designers who loyally claim her to be their muse. Bebo too never fails to swear by her designers and credits them for making her look fab on-screen. But now this mutual love affair between the glam doll and Indian fashion designer is about to turn ugly as the stunner is going hunting for an international fashion house for her design label.
Snubbing aside Indian designers, the Kapoor belle has opted to ape Hollywood hotties like Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham who have trusted fashion legends for their clothing line.
Confirming the news, Kareena said, "I won`t be associating with any Indian designer for my clothesline. It has to be a global fashion brand. I have told my agents in Matrix that I want to go to Paris to finalise a designer."
Out to finalise an international name Kareena is set to tour Paris and Los Angeles to meet up with the designers. According to sources, the brands that Bebo is looking at are Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix, Giorgio Armani, Donatella Versace and Roberto Cavalli.
A source close to the star told a news daily, "Kareena`s agents are basically concentrating on design houses that are members of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in France, but preferably one which doesn`t already have a presence in India. The ensembles designed and manufactured by them will be marketed in India and a few other countries as Kareena`s signature line."
Excited about her clothing range, Kareena further said, "I can`t talk about the business aspect of the deal just yet. I have a three-month marathon schedule coming up with Karan Johar and after that I`m planning to go on a holiday. So, the Paris trip will be worked into that schedule. I will also be going to Los Angeles to meet some more designers. A lot of work needs to be done before I can make an official announcement about it."

Guns N’ Roses Indian concert has been confirmed
This November, the gritty rock riffs will ‘Rain’ down on the Indian rock fans of the American band Guns N’ Roses. The cult rock band, spearheaded by lead vocalist Axl Rose, is set to perform at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore Nov 7, according to contactmusic.com.
“It is true that we are bringing Guns N’ Roses to India. As of now, I can tell you that the Bangalore concert has been confirmed. We’re still in talks with people in Mumbai and Delhi, so let’s hope that works out. However, there is a good chance we can take the band to Shillong as well,” Raj Sinha, director of Rhapsody Inc., the company organizing the Bangalore concert, is quoted as saying.
“I can confirm that Axl Rose and Dizzy Reed will be there. DJ Ashba, their latest (addition), will be there. There will also be a person called Troy and two other members,” he added.
GNR has quite a huge fan following in India.
Even as the reports of GNR coming to India makes round in Indian media, ‘White Lion’ drummer Troy Patrick Farrell says Raj Sinha has got his facts mixed up.
“This rumour is the result of an over-zealous promoter that mixed up information. I have spoken (with) my direct contacts in India to confirm that they, in no way, shape or form, alluded to the fact that Axl or any version of GN’R would perform in India,” Troy told Blabbermouth.net
