Having closely bonded with Javed Akhtar earlier, it was rather suprising when Aamir Khan got into a verbal spat with him.
At a meeting to sort out the deadlock between producers and lyricist writers, Khan sided with the producers undermining the importance of writers.
A close insider states, "Aamir’s contention was that a song becomes a hit only when it is picturised on a big star. To which Akhtar asked him , ’Your first song was ’papa kehte hain’. Did you make the song or did the song make you?’ And the war of words continued, with each of them getting hot under the collar as the argument escalated."
The news spread like the proverbial wildfire. Akhtar cautiously sidestepping the prickly issue groaned to the scribe tribe stating, "We writers are almost like bonded labourers and there is no room for us to profit in any way. We should be paid certain royalties, which our film industry does not pay."
Guess, Akhtar ’Khan’ do it….
