News : Asin is still falling short of offers

After giving two of the biggest hits (Ghajini and Ready) in Bollywood, we probably expected Asin Thottumkal to be in every directors wishlist. But what’s shocking is that currently, the actress has only one project in hand and that is Housefull 2. Zarine Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez have already been cast as the other two leading ladies, which means Asin will have to share her screen space with them.

Says a trade source, “She has just one film, Housefull 2, in which she will share screen space with Jacqueline Fernandez and Zarine Khan.”

If the buzz is to be believed, Asin is quoting the same price as the likes of Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. This is the main reason why most directors are refusing to cast her in films.

Rumors also have it that the Kollywood producers and directors are unhappy about the fact that she ignored them when she started receiving offers from Bollywood.

Bollywood celebrities are invited for to met director James Cameron

Along with Aamir Khan, two other Bollywood celebrities are invited for the conclave that will be attended by the legendary Avatar director James Cameron in New Delhi during this weekend. But, these young stars will not share the same platform as Aamir and James.

Kapoor prodigy, Ranbir Kapoor and one-film wonder Asin will participate in the India Today Conclave on Saturday and will speak on Youth forum session for the topic ‘Reality Vs Idealism’.

On the other hand, Aamir and Cameron will talk movies in Future of Cinema section, which will conclude the two-day long buzz session of various leaders and speakers as “it will bring together the finest minds across the planet to debate and discuss the new decisive decade.”

And after all that public addressing, the guests and speakers will be treated to a sumptuous, splendid dinner that will also offer them the chance to mingle and make friends.

So, as of now, the chances of Ranbir or Asin meeting Cameron are quite bleak unless the two stars decide to gatecrash or formally attend ‘Future of Cinema’ forum just to see, touch, talk or even be photographed with the man who’s made the highest earning film ever.

Asin has been so over worked and busy these days that finally, her body could not take the strain and she passes out at an Andheri club because of non-stop interviews that she had to give for her latest film, ‘London Dreams’. The actress had reportedly slept for barely 3-4 hours last week and on that day, she had no sleep or food. This, added to the fact that she was on a slimming diet, led to her collapse and she had to be revived by her staff and friends by instant energy boosters.

Later, she rested at home on her birthday. When she came home on Sunday evening, her parents had done up the entire house with balloons, like they used to when she was younger. The night was spent with close friends who came over to dinner after which they made her cut the cake at midnight. She also spent some part of her day with children from her building.

She stepped into Bollywood and instantly took over the industry and Hindi audience like a fiza. She was received with same adulations down South, her alma mater. From her first Hindi film, ‘Ghajini’, Asin ki to nikal padi! This South Chori took on Hindi cinema like a fish to water.

Asin Thottumkal had taken on the acting path since 2001 through south industry. However it was only through Hindi version of ‘Ghajini’ that Asin became a universal name. After the Tamil ‘Ghajini’ hit the gold, the filmmaker decided to launch Asin for the Hindi version too. And from here the lass didn’t turn back, not even to her South industry. Like Sridevi, Hema Malini, Asin too has become a well-known star in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu.

With her debut movie Asin got to share screen with Aamir Khan . And now with her second movie, she got the company of two dhamdhaar heroes - Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn - in Vipul A. Shah’s ‘London Dreams’. Asin not only impressed the audience but also attracted concern from industry celebrities. London Dreams the first real time video conference for a Indian film

From New York all the way to Mumbai, the world seemed so small for an hour as the cast and crew of Vipul Shah’s highly buzzed musical, London Dreams were a part of the first of its kind, real time video conference for a Indian film.

A studio filled with Press in New York bounced questions to the film’s Director and Producer-Vipul Shah, Bollywood’s most Wanted actor-Salman Khan, Ghajini starlet Asin along with supporting stars Rannvijay Singh and Aditya Roy Kapoor.

The stars of film shared the stage at a musical set in Mumbai with instruments and microphones all set to rock on cue!

The lead pair of the film, Salman and Asin shared quite a cordial and friendly vibe with each other gladly addressing the media’s many questions.

Filmicafe users logged in and engaged with the stars tuning from all over North America for this memorable and remarkable opportunity.

Actress Asin speak the French language fluently

Asin loves to travel and explore different places and know more about the people and culture. During the shoot of London Dreams in Paris, Asin would go sight seeing a lot. She would visit churches, attended the mass, have street food etc.

A friend of the actress said, “When Asin was shooting for London Dreams, she went sight seeing in Paris. Asin loved the churches in Paris. She even attended the mass. Asin even tried the street food available there. In short work cum pleasure trip for Asin.”

And not many know that Asin can not only read and write but also speak the French language fluently. She’s quite a master at it.

A close friend of the actress revealed, “Asin can sing French songs very fluently. In fact her college friends would tease calling her French Nightingale. French was her favourite subject. She was top scorer in the subject.”

Now we know where Asin’s love for Paris stems from? One wonders if she was a French actress in her past life.

Asin had a dream start Bollywood films Aamir and Salman

Asin had a dream start with Bollywood as she bagged films with two Khans - Aamir and Salman. She was very vocal that she wanted to work with the third powerful Khan - Shah Rukh. Funnily, when she had the chance, she turned it down!

A few days ago, Farah Khan offered her a role in her next, Happy New Year, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, which is slated to go on the floors by end of this year.

Asin took her time to mull over the offer, consulted her father and then sent word to Farah that she won’t be doing the film. “Ever since Asin appeared on Farah’s show Tere Mere Beach Mein, they have been in touch. When Farah offered her the role, initially Asin was quite excited. It is not known why she refused Farah’s film,” says a source.

The polite way to refuse, of course, is to cite date problems. “She conveyed that the dates which Farah needed would be clashing with her other assignments,” revealed the source.

The latest is that Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have set their eyes on the female lead in Happy New Year. Kareena Kapoor is also in the race. Asin’s loss is someone else’s gain. It will be interesting to see who bags the role. Considering how sought after Farah is, it is indeed shocking that a new actress in Bollywood, turned her down.
